Stay Warm With Hot Yoga This Winter

With the temperatures beginning to drop and seasonal colds making their way through the office, you’re probably looking for ways to keep your immune system strong and your overall health intact before the hectic holiday season ensues. In today’s post, we’ll provide you with an overview of how hot yoga can help you stay warm, healthy, and fit this winter. When you’ve finished reading this post, get in touch with a member of our staff to learn more about our Wilmington yoga studio’s offer for new students. We’re currently offering 30 days of yoga for just $30, so take this opportunity to get started!

What Is Hot Yoga?

As you can guess from the name, hot yoga is performed in a humid room that has been heated to roughly 100 degrees. Sessions range from one hour to 90 minutes in duration, and the primary objective of a hot yoga class is to increase your heart rate and improve your muscular endurance. While performing yoga in a hot room may not sound difficult, it’s one of the most strenuous classes we offer here at our Wilmington yoga studio.

The Health Benefits of Hot Yoga

Consistent Exercise

With daylight savings just around the corner, you’re probably preparing for the days to end earlier and earlier. The sun will probably be setting as you leave the office, and many people understandably find it difficult to stay motivated to stick to an exercise regimen when it’s dark outside. You may not have the motivation to walk the dog or go for an evening jog as the winter goes on, so consider coming to a hot yoga class to keep your body fit for the rest of the year. Even if you can’t perform all of the movements during the first few sessions, you’ll see noticeable improvements in time.

Physical Health

Flu season is just around the corner. With seasonal colds making their rounds through offices, schools, and other public places, it’s incredibly important to make sure that your immune system is strong. Studies suggest that working out can give your immune system a boost and prevent you from catching that nasty cold going around the office, so consider giving hot yoga a try. In addition to improving your immune system, you’ll be sweating out toxins that have accumulated in your body throughout the week and reaping the many physical benefits of yoga.

Improved Mental Health

Studies have shown that people become more depressed and anxious during the fall and winter, and exercise is a great way to naturally ward off the wintertime blues. At Wilmington Yoga, we incorporate meditation and mindfulness training into some of our yoga classes, as these practices have been shown to improve mental health and promote feelings of well-being. With the hectic nature of the holidays just around the corner, there’s no better time than right now to begin incorporating hot yoga into your life.
