The Ayurvedic Effects of Asana Flow
on the beaches of Nosara, Costa Rica
March 22-27, 2015
Join us for an incredible learning opportunity as we immerse ourselves into the “Blue Zone” of the Nosara beaches within the Nicoya Peninsula. The concept of the Blue Zone is used to identify geographic areas of the world where more people live to be centenarians-over 100 years- because of healthy lifestyle practices. Scientists at National Geographic have discovered that in the specific region of Nicoya, residents live longer than other Costa Ricans, making it the “Blue Zone” of the Americas. As one of the most bio-diverse locations in the world, the Nosara beaches and jungles have become a mecca for those seeking health, relaxed living, and a strong connection to the rhythms of nature. While in this magical location, we will be experiencing the great teachings of nature as we explore the principles and theories of 5Elements Flow Yoga; creating a real-world foundation from which to share the teachings upon returning home.
5Elements Flow Yoga is a model of five creative, dynamic vinyasa flow practices within the Kunga Yoga School developed by Kristin Cooper and inspired by the teachings of Ayurveda. 5Elements Flow is based on the “panchamahabhutus”; or the five great elements of nature, and is for students of all levels. This practice teaches a deeper understanding of the elements through unique namaskars and posture sequencing, and offers the practitioner a toolbox of five flow practices which correlate with changing seasons and life cycles. This pallette of creative practices-from deeply grounding to highly energizing-creates a foundation for sustaining a lifelong yoga practice.
Special Opportunity to Learn 5Elements Flow Yoga in Costa Rica!
This highly unique and experiential training is being offered in the beautiful beaches of Nosara, Costa Rica as an incredible “no walls” learning opportunity surrounded by the five elements of nature that we will be learning about. Earth will be explored walking barefoot along the beaches and jungle trails, Water will be explored along the edges of the waves and jungle waterfalls. Fire will be explored by evening bonfire and daily sun-basking, and Air is experienced 24 hours as we are surrounded by the breeze off of the Pacific Ocean in our open air pagoda. Space, the final element, is experienced througout the entire training with vast open beaches, great opportunities for expansive rest and relaxation, and freedom through movement daily and nightly. All 5Elements Flow practices will be taught with this great opportunity to truly feel and connect with the power of nature in one of the most biodiverse locations on the planet.
The 5Elements Flow model includes the following classes:
5Elements Earth Flow
5Elements Water Flow

5Elements Space Flow
All 5Elements Flow practices are set sequence classes, meaning that the same sequence of namaskars and asanas are taught every time in every class.
5 Elements Flow Yoga Teacher Training Certification is for aspiring and experienced teachers wishing to deepen their knowledge of vinyasa “flow” practices, and the ayurvedic effects of asana.
