Cotton Road Film Screening and Clothing Swap with Laura Kissel – May 2014

A Global Supply Chain Journey

Americans consume nearly 20 billion new items of clothing each year. Yet few of us know how our clothes are made, much less who produces them. Cotton Road follows the commodity of cotton from South Carolina farms to Chinese factories to illuminate the work and industrial processes in a global supply chain.
Join filmmaker Laura Kissel for a Clothing Swap and Film Screening/Discussion. De-clutter your closet and revitalize your wardrobe while sharing the opportunity to look at the reality behind our habits as consumers. Bring between 1 and 10 clean and gently used articles of clothing, shoes or accessories to trade while we share ideas, light refreshments and a beautifully meditative film on the journey our clothing travels before landing in our closets.

Benefits of this film screening:

  • Learn more about the unseen stories behind clothing production
  • Become a more informed consumer, considering the yogic concept of Ahimsa, or non-harming in your purchasing choices
  • Refresh your wardrobe in time for Spring and Summer
  • Enjoy a fun night out ‘shopping’ without breaking the bank.
