In a previous blog, we talked about some of the poses that you can do in yoga that will help you ease your back pain. If the poses are done right, then these poses will help elongate and strengthen the muscles in your back. There are many more yoga poses that can help with your back pain and we would like to talk about them now.
Triangle pose
This pose helps strengthen your back and can help lengthen the muscles along the side of your torso. To do this pose, lunge backwards with your left foot and point your back foot at a 45 degree angle. Then take your right arm and stretch it to the ground while lifting your left arm up towards the ceiling. You should hold this pose for 5-10 breaths.
Cat and Cow pose
Another great pose for helping with back pain is the Cat and Cow pose. To start this pose, you need to be on all fours. The cat pose is where you press your spine up towards the ceiling. Hold this for a few seconds and then move into the cow pose. You will need to press your shoulders up and lift your head. Hold this for a few seconds and repeat movements about 10 times.
Upward-facing dog
This pose helps stretch your abdominal muscles as well as your back. Start by laying on your stomach on the floor and press your body up with your palms at the middle of your ribcage. Press your feet to the floor. It is important to not use the strength in your hands but your back to lift your chest off the floor. Hold pose for 5-10 breaths.
