About Jeffery Cohen, Director of Jivamukti Yoga Charleston
Jeffrey Cohen received his Bachelor’s from the University of Michigan in Psychology and is an advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher. His interest in yoga stem from a mishmash of the arts, athletics, addiction, behavioral problems, numerous psychotherapists, and “alternative” education. His subsequent failure to respond to traditional methods of psychotherapy were the seedlings to the realization that it is through divine community (satsang) and devotion that one can one obtain healing, humility, and salvation.
He is an ambassador of yoga presenting classes, retreats, & workshops around the globe. Jeffrey serves as an acting Facilitator and formerly Lead Mentor for the residential Jivamukti Yoga® Teacher Training Program and is also a member of the Omega Institute and Kripalu guest teaching faculty. Video and radio projects include collaborations with Russell Simmons and Martha Stewart.
Jeffrey is known for his rawness, humor, warmth, relevance, and candor. His classes are textured with a perfect blend of sonic vibrations, rigor, and hands-on assists.
He offers his love, gratitude, and efforts to all his teachers: Supreme to all, his wife Andrea and teachers Sharon Gannon & David Life. He also bows down to the lotus feet of his parents, Ruth Lauer-Manenti, Jack Kornfield, Ram Dass, Rock n Roll, and the courageous students of yoga.
