In celebration of their 31st year as Wilmington’s local, community owned resource for natural foods, Tidal Creek Co-op is challenging everyone to eat more local foods, whether they’re from farmers’ markets, local CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture), your garden or their store.
The Eat Local Challenge is a summer tradition at Tidal Creek. It’s a fun way for you to get actively involved in doing more to support the local Wilmington economy. Challenge yourself to increase your local shopping for just one month. It might be easier than you think! Through the challenge, Tidal Creek hopes to help everyone explore the reasons supporting local is important and find ways to make the transition to eating more local food a smoother one.
How It Works:
Determine a level of locally produced foods to will incorporate into your diet from July 1-31. For example, perhaps you can start modestly with 10 or 20% of locally produced foods in your diet or maybe you will want to dive in deep and go with 100% locally produced food! Another option would be to define your challenge by the number of local meals per week. For example you could set a goal to eat five meals each week made with local ingredients.
The challenge is yours, set a goal that’s attainable, and join Tidal Creek Co-Op for a month of eating locally grown Wilmington food.
